Atmel ATSHA204 is an authentication chip that has a built-in 4.5Kb EEPROM. This array can be used for storage of keys, read / write, read-only, password and consumption tracking. Users can add restrictions to various sections of the memory for security purposes. Defensive mechanisms are designed to prevent physical attacks on the chip itself or logical attacks on the data transmitted between the chip and the system.
